Dream Week 2009 – The Year That Was, And What A Great Year It Was!

It was so inspiring to see the public embrace Dream Week, September 14-20th 2009 - 7 Days of Hope. A terrific and successful week was had by all. The rollout of the windows in Myer Sydney and Melbourne came alive with Dream Week Tree of Hope. The David Jones Elizabeth Street store window was entirely devoted to Dream Week – it spoke volumes! Customers in both department stores had the uplifting opportunity to contribute to Look Good…Feel Better through Dream Week fundraising. And fundraise we did. Between the store initiatives, volunteer activities and various other donations we raised over $80,000. That means an extra 1150 cancer patients can attend a Look Good…Feel Better workshop for free! An excellent accomplishment!

The movie night screening ‘the Young Victoria’ held at the Palace Verona at Paddington was a huge hit. Raising funds and getting women together to understand, what we, at Look Good…Feel Better are all about. Free workshops dedicated to teaching women cancer patient’s beauty techniques to help restore their appearance and self image during cancer treatment. Through Look Good…Feel Better workshops, women learn how to cope with the appearance related side effects of cancer treatment. Try on some wigs, turbans and scarves. The emphasis is on hands on learning, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Each participant receives a take home instruction booklet and a complimentary kit of skincare and cosmetics which have been donated from the entire Australian cosmetic industry.

Dream Week was a great success. We thank everyone involved who helped do their bit to shine a light on this most worthwhile and significant cause. Look Good…Feel Better is one of the few charitable programs in Australia available to all cancer patients that deal with support through the non medical part of their cancer journey.
